One side is glazed and slightly recessed to hold a cone of incense, or flip it over to use the hole on the unglazed underside to burn stick incense. Burning cone incense often leaves some organic matter behind on the surface it's being burned on. To remove this, use a microfiber cloth and or warm water. Soap can be used, as well, but it's not recommended to put
