Japanese Zelkova/Elm Brazier - 19thC Pillars Made from sustainable mango woodKnown as a 'Tabako bon' this tobacco stand with a miniature brazier 'hi ire' atop dates from the Edo period (1603 1867). Made from zelkova (red elm) and brass, it is particularly lovely form. The three drawers and brass compartment would have been used for keeping tobacco and the carved groove would have held a pipe.
