Straits Chinese Kamcheng Pot & Cover - Late 19th Century Material - Zinc It is in its originalThis Chinese porcelain pot & lid was made in China to the tastes of Straits Chinese (Peranakan, Baba, or Nonya) in the late 19th century. This style of pot is called a kamcheng, meaning 'covered vessel' in Hokkien. It's not entirely clear what kamchengs were made for but they were likely used for food storage. Kamchengs were often commissioned as part of a wedding service. This pot has some historic chips on the lid which can be seen in the photos. It
