Pair of Chinese Side Tables From Shanxi - Early 19th Century Period - Early 19th Century Finished with a softly distressedThis pair of Chinese side tables date to the early 19th century and originally came from Shanxi province. They are constructed from paulownia & yumu elm () wood. Originally they would have been coated in dark lacquer, however, over time, this has mostly worn away on the table top to reveal a beautiful grain. This style of table has been produced in China since the Ming dynasty. They are incredibly versatile being used for both stools and side tables.
