Brookite Pyromorphite Ahlfeld worked the San Jose

Ahlfeld worked the San Jose mine and Itos mine (the other significant Andorite locality at the same mountain in Oruro) when the mines were used predominantly as a major source of tin to the United States during WWII

which is EXCEPTIONALLY RARE in my experience with the material

Brookite Pyromorphite Ahlfeld worked the San JoseA striking isolated, somewhat broad "sword" shaped crystal of Brookite measuring 1. 1 cm sitting nicely on the underlying host rock matrix. The Brookite shows a deep golden orange hue when backlit, with a thin internal black "phantom" running from the point of the termination to the base of the crystal. There are a couple prismatic colorless Quartz crystal on each side of the Brookite, framing the piece nicely. No damage and incredibly eye catching.
