but a bit of handwriting in the opening pages dates it to the 1890s

The statue has a bronze color, but may be a pot metal or white metal and is sold with no guarantees as to metal type. It depicts a bucking horse with a primitive saddle and a native man wrapped in a cloth trying to settle the horse by its reigns.
