Brass Bound Teak Chest From Gujarat - 19th century Period - 17th Century Date: Circa 1900This handsome 19th century brass bound teak chest from Gujarat is a fine example of the robust travelling chests produced during the British colonial period in India. Constructed from beautifully figured teak and reinforced with brass corner straps and mounts, it was built to endure the rigours of long distance travel while developing the rich patina that only generations of use can create. Originally commissioned by officers of the British Indian
