It closes the gap around the blade to support the cut right at the edge, helping reduce tear out and keeping narrow offcuts from dropping into the table opening. Use it when you want the cleanest possible finish on plywood, hardwood, or small parts. A tight fitting insert keeps the workpiece stable, improves cut
